PEPR Launches New Podcast

Living Proof: Experience as Evidence explores the integration of lived experience as evidence in pain research.

September 22, 2025

Partnership for the Engagement of People in Pain Research (PEPR) is excited to announce the launch of Living Proof, a new podcast that explores how lived experience can be recognized and integrated as evidence in chronic pain research.

Co-hosted by Desmond Williams and Emerald Asuncion—two people with lived experience of chronic pain and marginalization—Living Proof creates space for dialogue, learning, and connection. Each episode brings together researchers, partners, and people with lived experience to reflect on a central question: What counts as evidence, and how do we share it? From personal narratives to research perspectives, the podcast challenges conventional boundaries and imagines new possibilities for knowledge in pain research.

The debut episode, Exploring Meaningful Engagement, features Dr. Fiona Webster, Dr. Kate Rice, and Dr. Laura Connoy. Together, they discuss their research on meaningful engagement and the origins of the PEPR Partnership.
